Balanced life movement article number #2 6/4/ 18
In a balanced self-care movement, balance is one of the key ingredients.
What does it mean to you to have a balanced life?
Based on your definition, how balanced is your life?
Out of the list that follows, what 5 or 6 areas of life are most important to you? In what order? (Time permitting, rank-order all 10)
Spiritual connection
Mental health
Physical health
Family togetherness
Financial security
Work/school
Passion, purpose, vision
Social connection
Civic involvement
Personal initiative, challenges, aspirations
Christ is first in my life, so spiritual connection is my top priority. My second priority is my family, namely my wife and other family members. My physical health, mental health, financial security and social connections round out the six top priorities of my life.
For the most part, I spend my time accordingly.
If you were to look at how you spend your time, would the way you spend your time be consistent with what you have stated to be your top priorities? In other words, are you spending your time on your top priorities?
If the answer is yes, then great. If the answer is no or not really, then why not?
Some people go about life living from moment to moment without much thought about what’s important to them or why;

Most of us are creatures of habit, custom, doing the things we do; living life, oftentimes one day at a time. Many of us seldom even think about changing our routine.
If you were to make a decision, today, to do better, or to do things differently, where would you start?
I would start with prayer because God is first in my life. Who is first in your life?
Could an outsider tell who or what is first in your life? Could your spouse, a very close friend or someone else who know you very well be able to tell?
Who or what is second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth? Is your time and other resources used according to those priorities?
If you wanted to make your priorities to be more in agreement with the way you spend your time and other resources, how would you go about doing it? Like any problem I find my self facing, I would start by making use of my support system.
What support system do you have? Who specifically?
The question I have for us Christians is:
When is the last time you called on Jesus or the Holy Spirit for help? When have you last used your spiritual connection to get the help you needed for something of importance to you?
How, specifically do you spend time with God, your strongest support system?
If I showed you a way to spend more time with God, would you use it?
A secret that I use is to “stay in His Spirit, ALL the time,” as best you can and you will be okay
